No need for command line at all.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Then select the font in &lt;a href="http://OpenOffice.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="OpenOffice.org"&gt;OpenOffice.org&lt;/a&gt; and press the back-quote key `. Unfortunately, we use the back-quote key for a number of activities in Linux, but still it's usable if we have to write some print article/pdf having the rupee symbol.
