Hi Gaurav,
It's happy to get the INR font. It would be more of state of the art if the key stroke an be modified to a combination of keys like Ctrl+` rather than ` alone since this is a well known key used in Linux :)

@vivek : thnx. here is my reply :

for ubuntu : whatever you are saying is correct .
for fedora you can just copy the ttf file to the .font directory under the user home directory and run the command " fc-cache" and use the font.
[for Debian the font viewer doesn't have any install button and .fonts doesn't exist under home directory at-least in Lenny]

Another option is, in Ubuntu (I'm sure it should be similar in debian too), just open the font and click 'Install font' button on bottom left. No need for command line at all.

Then select the font in OpenOffice.org and press the back-quote key `. Unfortunately, we use the back-quote key for a number of activities in Linux, but still it's usable if we have to write some print article/pdf having the rupee symbol. Thanks for the post.
